Cinderella is another classic princess. Not only did she save the Disney fountain on the brim of bankruptcy, she also offers great life lessons that we can benefit from. Her story is timeless and cherished by all. From her kind heart, to sparkling glass slippers, I drew inspiration to find a few important life lessons.
Be Brave and Take Chances
Even after a long hard day of working, Cinderella still finds it in her to stand up for herself and say that she deserves to go to the ball too. She has the courage to stand up to her step family only to face rejection and hatred. However, she doesn’t let this stop her. Risking the consequences that might happen, Cinderella goes to the ball anyway and then once again stands up to her step family demanding she be allowed to try on the glass slipper.
Life is scary, there is no denying that. However, we can’t live in fear. We must find the courage and bravery to chase after what we want, and what we know we deserve. Don’t hide away and let people walk all over you. You are strong, and you are worth it.
Kindness Triumphs Evil
In the battle of Cinderella vs. the wicked step mother Lady Tremaine, who was it that won? It was the kind hearted girl rather than the manipulative and abusive step mother. We often see a trend from Disney princesses that kindness is key. Cinderella never let the abuse from her step family trifle her kind spirit. So, keep a kind pure heart and be good to yourself but also those around you. And never let the actions of somebody else destroy your spirit.
Work Hard for Your Dreams
Cinderella surely didn’t get to waltz into her happily ever after by sitting in her room all day. She fought for her dreams and refused for them to be suppressed. Even after working all day, being ordered around by her step family, Cinderella still had the strength and determination to work even harder so she could go to ball. She even tried to make a ball gown (yes, she did have some help from mice.) But she never gave up hope, and this is important to remember.
You have to fight for what you want; nothing is just given to us. Even when the work seems hard and you just want to throw in the towel, you have to keep pushing, it will all be worth it in the end. And most importantly, never stop dreaming.
The Things You aren’t Looking for are Often the Best
Cinderella never intended on falling madly in love with the prince the night of ball, it was just a mere coincidence. Sure, she might have dreamed of it once, but what girl doesn’t dream of marrying a prince. Rather, she just wanted to escape the tyranny of her step mother and sisters. I’m sure a gorgeous dress and a handsome prince were never Cinderella’s plan.
We often can’t find what we are looking for but sometimes we stumble upon something better. Be open to experiences around you and don’t give up if you don’t find what you are looking for; something better will come along.
No matter what life throws at you or how you have been treated, keep a kind heart and never give up. Cinderella may have gotten her happily ever but she worked hard to get there. Just think of how the story would’ve played out if she stayed locked up in her room all day.
If you had a fairy godmother, what would you ask for?
