Life Lessons from the Cheshire Cat

Disney’s Alice in Wonderland offers a ton of important life lessons. However, from a young age I’ve always admired the Cheshire Cat. He has a unique, quirky, and kind of weird vibe to him. So for this post, I drew inspiration from the Cheshire Cat and found a few important life lessons.

Stand Out

The Cheshire Cat is known for his bold pink and purple strips and wears them proudly. Unlike most of the Disney animals, he is filled with color. Just think of some other Disney cats, (Lucifer, Marie, Simba, etc.) they all seem drab compared to the Cheshire Cat. Stand out. Wear the clothes you want and that make you feel good. Clothes aren’t the only way to stand out either. Try expressing yourself through your personality and creativity.

Help Others

Throughout the movie, Alice in Wonderland, the Cheshire cat tries to help Alice, even when he can’t help her, he sends her to someone who can. First to the Mad Hatter and March Hare, then to the Queen of Hearts. While he does cause a little mischief along the way, all cats do. 😉 You should do what you can to help others around you. Even small acts of kindness can go a long way.

Smile Often

The smile is the iconic staple of the Cheshire Cat. It is what he is known for. He has this permanent smile on his face, and while I’m not sure what he is smiling about all the time, it is a good lesson to understand. Even in the hardest of times, find something to smile about, something to be grateful for. Be like the Cheshire Cat and flaunt those pearly whites.

Be Proud of Who You Are

This is probably the most important lesson from the Cheshire Cat. Like all the characters in Wonderland, the Cheshire Cat is mad. However, unlike everybody else, he admits it with pride. We aren’t all perfect and like the characters of Wonderland, we are all a little off in some way. But our imperfections are what shapes us and make us special. So, don’t hide your imperfections, embrace them.

The Cheshire Cat is a unique character with a lot to offer us. He is so different from most other Disney characters. There is more than meets the eye with this quirky-cutie.
